Alicja Hudson

In her work as a member of our Architectural Staff, Architect Alicja Hudson focuses on the process of collaboration and co-creation. Robert A.M. Stern observed that “The dialogue between client and architect is about as intimate as any conversation you can have, because when you’re talking about building a house, you’re talking about dreams”– and making those dreams a reality is what Alicja is after.   Through responsive, empathetic, and considered dialogue, Alicja aims for the built space to transmute the personality and vision of the client.

Alicja’s zeal for creating spaces began at a very young age while spending time with her mother, who would be tending to everything needle-and-thread.  Endless recreations of cardboard houses, and home decor for dolls, morphed into inexhaustible hours of drawing and painting.  After emigrating from Poland with her parents, Alicja dived into a wide-range of academic pursuits, including photography, anthropology, and botany.  This mix finally translated into the studies on architecture earning her a professional degree from Illinois Institute of Technology.

Given opportunities to work across a wide spectrum of architectural responsibilities over the last two decades, interbred with nearly annual travels to Europe, Alicja’s thrilled to ground her output in residential market under an umbrella of sustainable design.  Together, with a great team at Gettliffe Architecture, she continues to investigate and stretch the potential of design that treads lightly on our climate.  When not in the office, you’ll find her lecturing at University of Colorado Boulder, while also tending to her land with her husband, two young children, and a dog.
